How to Extend the UF Membrane Module Service Life?

Ultrafiltration membrane modules are consumables, so their service life is limited. The service life of the ultrafiltration membrane module directly determines the filtration cost of the entire project. Therefore, the service life of the ultrafiltration membrane module is an important factor when we choose to purchase. Here are 4 important treatment methods for extending the service life of ultrafiltration membrane modules for your reference:


1. Sterilize the Ultrafiltration Membrane Modules Regularly

Generally, tubular ultrafiltration membranes can trap very small foreign bodies or bacteria, so the water source filtered in this way is very clean. But this can only filter bacteria, not kill bacteria, so it must be sterilized regularly to prevent too many bacteria and germs from accumulating in the ultrafiltration membrane module, which will affect the filtering effect and shorten the service life of the ultrafiltration membrane module.


2. Regularly Check the Water Flow Rate and Pressure of the Ultrafiltration Membrane System

Before operating the ultrafiltration membrane system, you need to be fully familiar with the performance of the ultrafiltration membrane module, and regularly check the water flow rate and pressure at the inlet and outlet of the ultrafiltration membrane system during the operation of the system. If it is found that the water flow rate or pressure exceeds the range of normal operation, the operation should be stopped in time and the problem should be checked and solved to prevent the ultrafiltration membrane module from overloading operation, causing permanent damage to the ultrafiltration membrane.

3. Clean the Ultrafiltration Membrane Modules Regularly

If these pollutants are not treated for a long time, they will be blocked in the voids of the ultrafiltration membrane and reduce the filtration efficiency of the ultrafiltration membrane module. Therefore, in order to prevent the ultrafiltration membrane from being clogged, generally the ultrafiltration membrane module is cleaned every 3 months, thereby extending the service life of the ultrafiltration membrane module.


4. Reasonable Storage of Ultrafiltration Membrane Modules

If the ultrafiltration membrane system is out of service for more than 24 hours, we need to sterilize and disinfect the ultrafiltration membrane components. If the operation is stopped for more than a week, the ultrafiltration membrane module needs to be sterilized and disinfected first, and then the protective liquid is injected into the ultrafiltration membrane module to prevent the ultrafiltration membrane module from shrinking after dehydration and destroying the ultrafiltration membrane module structure.
