PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) Bag Filter Housing is made of polypropylene reinforced plastic material through integral injection molding technology. Compared with PP material, PPH material has better resistance to strong acid, strong alkali, corrosion, high temperature, and high pressure, etc. PPH filter housing are widely used in chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, electroplating, industrial wastewater, seawater desalination, printing and dyeing and other industrial fields. Properly regulated installation and replacement of the filter housing is an important factor whether the PPH filtration system is to operate efficiently in these areas. Let’s know more about the installation and replacement for the PPH filtration system.

How Many Types of Plastic Bag Filter Housing Are There?

Plastic (PPH) Bag filter housing can be divided into swing bolt cap type and screwing cap type according to the Sealing method for the vessel. It can also be divided into single bag or multi-bag filter housing according to the numbers of installed filter bags. In addition, in order to meet different requirement of filtration systems in various fields, HONGTEK has specially designed various models of bag filter housing to help customers develop more economical filtration solutions.

1. Screw Cap Type Plastic (PPH) Bag Filter Housing

The screw cap type PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) bag filter housing is locked and sealed by screwing the top cover. It can be installed with filter bag with various specifications, such as Size #1, Size #2, Size #4, Size #5, Size #6 etc, and the Plastic (PPH) bag filter housing can be connected in parallel to meet different various flow capacity requirements.

2. Swing Bolt Cap Type Plastic (PPH) Bag Filter Housing

The swing bolt cap type PPH bag filter housing is locked and sealed by tightening the swing bolt on the top cover. It is generally installed with a Size #2 filter bag. Usually, if one single plastic bag filter housing can not meet the flow requirements of the system, you can choose to install multiple single filter bag housing in parallel, or choose to install one/multiple multi-bag filter housings in parallel, so as to achieve the system traffic requirements.

How to Install and Replace Plastic Bag Filtration System?

HONGTEK offers two types of bag-type plastic filtration systems: Screw Cap Type and Swing Bolt Cap Type. The installation and replacement steps of the two types of PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) bag filtration systems are different. Let’s take a look at how to install and replace the filter bag in these two filtration system respectively.

1. Installation and Replacement Guide for Screw Cap Type Plastic Bag Filtration Systems

1) Before installing a PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) bag filter housing, make sure that the housing is not damaged and that the specifications are met the standard. Then open the top cover of the housing, take out the pressure gauge, exhaust vale, pressure ring, inner pressure plate, basket and other parts in the Plastic (PPH) Filter Housing, finally install the drain valve;

2) Turn off the power supply of the filter system, make it in a shutdown state, and close the inlet valve upstream and outlet valve downstream of the PPH filter housing. If you just install one unit PPH filter housing, directly connect the inlet/outlet flanges of the housing to the inlet/outlet pipes and seal them tightly. If you install multiple PPH filter housing, you need to assemble the multiple filter housing in parallel horizontally, and then connect the inlet/outlet flange of the housing to the inlet/outlet pipes and seal them. In order to facilitate system control and operation, when filter housing are installed in parallel, generally one inlet/outlet valve will be installed on the upstream/downstream of each filter housing;

3) Before the filter bag is installed, directly rinse the inside of the plastic (PPH) filter housing and the other spare parts (pressure ring, inner pressure plate, basket, etc.), then drain the liquid in the housing through the drain outlet, and close the drain valve tightly. If you need to replace the filter bag, you must open the exhaust valve at the top of the filter housing to release the pressure. Unscrew the pressure gauge and exhaust valve, then turn counterclockwise to unscrew the top cover of the housing. Take out the inner pressure plate, pressure ring, basket and filter bag that need to be replaced, then clean the inside of the housing and the other spare parts. After the liquid is completely drained through the drain outlet, close the drain valve tightly;

4) Install the basket first, so that the sealing ring the basket is in close contact with the filter housing. Unpack the new filter bag, install the filter bag vertically into the basket, and then place the pressure ring vertically. After the pressing the filter bag tightly, place the inner pressure plate horizontally to make it full close contact with the sealing ring of the filter housing;

5) Put on the top cover of the filter housing, turn it clockwise to tighten the top cover, seal and fix the top cover on the housing shell, then install the exhaust valve and pressure gauge;

6) Start the Plastic (PPH) filtration system, slightly open the inlet valve upstream of the filter housing, let the liquid enter and fill the housing, until the liquid overflows from the exhaust port, close the exhaust valve;

7) Slowly open the outlet valve downstream of the PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) filter housing until it is fully open, and then slowly adjust the inlet valve until the value of the differential pressure between the upstream and downstream of the housing reaches the initial differential pressure specified by the filter bag.

2. Installation and Replacement Guide for Swing Bolt Cap Type Plastic Bag Filtration Systems

1) Firstly, check and make sure the PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) Filter Housing meet the requirement standard and it’s not damaged. Then open the top cover of the filter housing, take out the exhaust valve, pressure gauge, basket and other parts in the housing. Install the exhaust valve, drain valve and pressure gauge, and open the exhaust valve;

2) Make sure the filter system is stopped and close the inlet valve upstream and outlet valve downstream of the Plastic (PPH) filter housing. If install just one unit PPH filter housing, you could directly connect the inlet/outlet flanges of the housing to the inlet/outlet pipes and seal them tightly. If install multiple PPH filter housing, you need to assemble the multiple filter housing in parallel horizontally, and then connect the inlet/outlet flange of the housing to the inlet/outlet pipes and seal them. In order to facilitate system control and operation, when filter housing are installed in parallel, generally one inlet/outlet valve will be installed on the upstream/downstream of each filter housing;

3) If the filter bag is installed, directly wash the inside of the plastic (PPH) filter housing and the basket, pressure ring and other parts, then drain the liquid in the housing from the drain outlet, and close the drain valve tightly. If the filter bag is to be replaced, first open the exhaust valve on the top of the filter housing to release the pressure, unscrew the swing bolt, open the top cover of the filter housing, and take out the basket, the pressure ring and filter bag to be replaced. Then rinse the inside of the filter housing, the basket, the pressure ring and other parts. After the liquid is completely drained from the drain outlet, close the drain valve tightly;

4) First put the basket into the filter housing and make sure the sealing ring of the basket is in close contact with the inside of the housing. Unpack the new filter bag, put the filter bag into the basket, then place the pressure ring vertically. After the pressing the filter bag tightly, install the top cover of the filter housing, tighten the bolts and fix it;

5) Start the PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) filtration system, slightly open the inlet valve upstream of the bag filter housing, let the liquid enter and fill the housing, until the liquid overflows from the exhaust port, close the exhaust valve;

6) Slowly open the outlet valve downstream of the plastic (PPH) filter housing until it is fully open, and then slowly adjust the inlet valve until the value of the differential pressure between the upstream and downstream of the housing reaches the initial differential pressure specified by the filter bag.

What Should We Pay Attention to During Installation and Replacement of Plastic Bag Filtration System

1) Check and ensure that the exhaust valve, pressure gauge, drain valve, and the connection position of the inlet/outlet flange of the PPH (Polypropylene Homopolymer) Bag Filter Housing are well sealed, and there is no liquid leakage, otherwise the working efficiency of the filtration system will be reduced;

2) When installing the Plastic (PPH) filter housing, it must be ensured that the inlet/outlet flanges of the filter housing are properly connected to the inlet/outlet pipes. If the direction of the water inlet/outlet is installed in the wrong direction, the filtration system will not be able to filter, and even the entire project will not be able to continue;

3) Before replacing the filter bag, make sure to open the exhaust valve at the top of the filter housing to relieve the pressure inside the filter housing, and then open the top cover of the housing, otherwise corrosive liquids such as strong acid and alkali in the filter housing may splash due to excessive pressure, causing injury to the operator;

4) If the pressure difference value of the pressure gauge upstream/downstream of the plastic (PPH) filter housing reaches the specified replacement pressure difference of the filter bag, the filter bag should be replaced in time, otherwise the working efficiency of the entire filtration system will decrease due to the liquid flow can not meet the requirements.
