MFV Series Multi Media Water Filter Vessel could be made of carbon steel, SS304 or SS316L, which is designed and selected according to the actual situation. A multi media filter typically contains layers of media consisting of anthracite coal, shell activated carbon, quartz sand and garnet.

Multi media filter is designed for enhanced water quality by removing sediment, turbidity, iron, unpleasant tastes, odors, suspended particles, and unwanted color. Multi media sand filters could be used as a stand-alone system or in conjunction with or as a pretreatment for other filtration technologies. They can be widely used as pre-filtration in applications such as granular activated carbon, reverse osmosis, cartridge or bag filtration and deionized water.

The Working Principle of Multi Media Filter Vessels

● Multi media filter vessels are widely used in water treatment processes and mainly consist of the following parts: filter cylinder, supporting pipelines, and valves. The filter cylinder includes: cylinder, backwash gas pipe, water distribution component, support component, filter material, exhaust valve (external), etc. The main function of a multi media filter is to remove impurities such as mud, sand, suspended solids, colloids, and algae from water, reducing mechanical damage and pollution to reverse osmosis membrane components. 

● In the process of water treatment, a multi media filter generally refers to the process of using filter media layers such as quartz sand and anthracite to retain suspended impurities in water, so as to obtain clarification of the water. The porous material used for filtration is called filter material, and quartz sand is the most common filter material. Common filter media include quartz sand, anthracite, activated carbon, magnetite, garnet, porous ceramics, plastic balls, etc.

● The top layer of the multi media filter vessel is composed of the lightest and coarsest materials, while the heaviest and finest materials are placed at the bottom. The principle is based on deep filtration: larger particles in the water are removed at the top layer, while smaller particles are removed at a deeper depth in the filter medium, thereby achieving the water quality standard after coarse filtration. 

● The multimedia filter is a pressure type, and its principle is that when the raw water passes through the filter material from top to bottom, the suspended solids in the water are intercepted by the surface of the filter layer due to adsorption and mechanical blockage; When water flows into the middle of the filter layer, due to the tighter arrangement of sand particles in the filter material layer, particles in the water have more opportunities to collide with the sand particles. As a result, flocs, suspended solids, and sand particles in the water adhere to each other, and impurities in the water are trapped in the filter material layer, resulting in clear water quality.
