Mechanical impurities in lubricating oil refer to sediments or colloidal suspensions that are insoluble in solvents such as gasoline, ethanol and benzene in lubricating oil. Most of these impurities are sand and iron filings, as well as some organic metal salts that are insoluble in solvents brought by additives. In order to improve the cleanliness of the finished lubricating oil, a bag filtration system is generally used to filter the mechanical impurities before the lubricating oil is filled.

Why Does Lubricating Oil Need to Be Filtered?

When using lubricating oil, it is very important to keep the lubricating oil clean. Because the impurities in the lubricating oil will wear out the mechanical parts and cause damage to the mechanical parts. It will cause the machinery to fail to operate for a long time, shorten the service life of the machinery, and thus increase the cost of investment. Therefore, it is necessary to effectively filter the impurities in the lubricating oil.

How Does a Bag Filtration System Filter Lubricating Oil?

Bag filtration systems are generally installed before the inlet of the filling line and are installed in series with multiple stages, so that the filter system can operate more cost-effectively. Different machines have different requirements for the cleanliness of lubricating oil, and the appropriate filtration scheme should be selected and matched according to the requirements of lubricating oil cleanliness. Generally, stainless steel bag filters are used for filtration equipment, and filter bags or pleated filter bags are generally selected for filtration consumables.

The filter bag can meet the basic needs of oil products. It has a large dirt holding capacity and is easy to disassemble and assemble. It is generally suitable for oil products with large output. According to the requirements of different oil filtration precision, two-stage or three-stage bag filtration system can be selected. For example, Filter Bags with filtration precision of 5 micron and 1 micron are used in series.

High Flow Pleated Bag Filters are specially designed to replace the filter cartridges and can be installed directly in the bag filter housing without any modification to housing. Compared with filter bags, its dirt holding capacity is larger and its filtration efficiency is higher. The pleated bag filter is generally suitable for the filtration of oil products with high grade requirements, such as high-definition hydraulic oil, transformer oil and other oil products.

Controlling the mechanical impurities of oil products is a comprehensive and systematic work. It is necessary to control all aspects of the entire production process form the oil product inlet to the outlet. In the selection of filter housing in the lubricating oil production process, it is important to do a good job in the preliminary design, comprehensively consider various relevant factors, and at the same time, carry out purposeful sampling during the filtration process, regular testing of filtration effect, continuous improvement for filtration effectiveness, and improve the quality of lubricating oil.
