Carbonated beverages refer to beverages containing carbon dioxide, such as Sprite, Coke, sparkling water, etc. It is also one of the soft drinks. Its production process includes: process water treatment, syrup filtration, beverage blending, carbonated beverage mixing, filling, warming bottle and packaging. The following is the process procedure of process water treatment and syrup filtration:

Syrup Filtration Process

1. Activated carbon treatment

Pour the white sugar into hot water at 80-85℃ and stir until it is completely dissolved, and then first add activated carbon particles and stir for 15-20 minutes, later add diatomaceous earth and continue to stir for about 15 minutes, so that the activated carbon can fully purify the syrup.

2. Precision filtration

As the diatomite filter layer inevitably has a few particles falling off, in order to ensure the purity of the filtered syrup, a security filter system should be installed thereafter. The filtration system generally uses Stainless Steel Bag Filter Housings and Filter Bags with 5 micron filtration rating.

Process Water Treatment

1. Quartz sand filter system

Quartz sand filtration system generally chooses quartz sand multi-media filter. The main purpose is to remove the sediment, manganese, rust, colloidal substances, mechanical substances, suspended substances contained in the water and other impurities that are more than 20 microns and harmful to the human body.

2. Activated carbon filter system

Activated carbon filter system generally chooses activated carbon filter. The main purpose is to use the adsorption of activated carbon to remove pigments, odors and a large amount of biochemical organic matter in the water, and to reduce the residual chlorine value in the water.

3. Softening treatment system

The softening treatment system is selected according to the requirements of the raw water quality. If the content of calcium and magnesium ions in the water is high, a sodium ion softener can be used to soften the hard water to protect the reverse osmosis membrane system. If the water hardness is low, the softening treatment system can be omitted.

4. Security filter system

The security filter system is composed of security filters and filter consumables. Filter consumables generally use Filter Cartridges or Filter Bags with 5 micron filtration rating, and the security filter should choose a suitable filter according to the raw water quality. If the salt content in the water is high, generally choose a FRP Bag Filter Housing or FRP Cartridge Filter Housing. If the salt content in the water is not high, generally choose a Stainless Steel Cartridge Filter Housing or a Stainless Steel Bag Filter Housing.

5. Reverse osmosis system

The main purpose of the reverse osmosis system is to desalinize the water and remove harmful soluble solids, bacteria and viruses, etc., so as to produce water that meets the standards of beverage process water.

6. UV sterilization

UV sterilization is mainly to remove pathogenic microorganisms in water, such as bacteria, viruses, yeasts, molds, etc., in order to meet the hygienic standards of beverage process water.
