Ultrafiltration is a membrane separation technology that has been widely used in various fields. With the rapid development of various industries, the amount of water required for production has also increased, so users attach great importance to the water yield. The main factors affecting the water yield of ultrafiltration membrane modules are: temperature, pressure and influent turbidity. Let's take a look at how to increase the water yield of Ultrafiltration Membrane Modules.

1. Maintain proper filtrate temperature

Generally, the temperature rises, the activity of water molecules will also increase, and the water yield will also increase. But it is not that the higher the temperature, the greater the water yield, because the filtration rate of the ultrafiltration membrane will also change with the temperature. The use temperature of HONGTEK Ultrafiltration Membrane Module is generally controlled between 5-45℃. When the filtrate temperature is about 25℃, the ultrafiltration membrane has the best filtration efficiency. Therefore, keeping the temperature of the filtrate at about 25℃ can increase the water yield of the ultrafiltration membrane module.

2. Increase operating pressure

Generally, the filtration efficiency will increase as the operating pressure increase. However, due to the limited pressure bearing capacity of the ultrafiltration membrane, if the operating pressure is increased indefinitely, the ultrafiltration membrane will be squeezed and deformed by high pressure, reducing the filtration rate. The maximum pressure-bearing capacity of HONGTEK Ultrafiltration Membrane Module is 0.2MPa, so when the operating pressure does not exceed 0.2MPa, increasing the operating pressure can increase the water yield of the ultrafiltration membrane module.

3. Reduce influent turbidity

The smaller the influent turbidity of the ultrafiltration membrane, the higher the filtration rate and the longer the service life. The influent turbidity requirement of HONGTEK Ultrafiltration Membrane Module is less than 25NTU. Therefore, to ensure that the turbidity of the influent is less than 25NTU, you need to choose an appropriate pretreatment plan according to the quality of the raw water, and minimize the turbidity of the influent of the ultrafiltration membrane module, which can increase the water yield of ultrafiltration membrane modules.

Ultrafiltration membrane modules are often used in a variety of different environments. For example, when the temperature is lower than 5℃ or higher than 45℃, the raw water is often heated or cooled to the temperature range of the ultrafiltration membrane, combining operating pressure and influent turbidity to ensure required water production. Therefore, in order to increase the water yield and reduce the filtration cost, we should adjust the operating temperature, pressure and turbidity of the inlet water according to the actual situation on the site.
