Coca cola is a carbonated beverage, which is mainly made of sweeteners, carbon dioxide, water and other raw materials. In order to ensure that cola meets food hygiene standards and improves its flavor and taste, a filtration system will be installed to filter and purify cola and its raw materials during the production process. The main filtration systems include reverse osmosis filtration system, sterilization filtration system, carbon dioxide/air filtration systems and protection filtration system.

1. Reverse Osmosis Pre-filtration Process

The production water of the reverse osmosis filtration system is mainly to provide process water for the production of cola. Since the direct use of the reverse osmosis membrane element is easy to cause blockage, the reverse osmosis membrane element needs pre-filtration treatment. The equipment of the pre-filtration device is generally made of Stainless Steel Filter Housing, and the filter consumables can be selected from High Flow Filter Cartridges, Melt Blown Cartridges or Filter Bags with a filtration accuracy of 5 micron according to the requirements.

2. Sterilization Pre-filtration Process

The sterilization pre-filtration device is usually installed upstream of the terminal sterilization device. Its main function is to remove impurities such as large particles in the liquid, protect the downstream sterilization filter device, and prolong the service life of the sterilization filter element. Sanitary Stainless Steel Filter Housing is generally used for the sterilization and pre-filtration device, and PP Nominal Pleated Filter Cartridges or PP Absolute Pleated Filter Cartridges are usually selected as filter consumables.

3. Terminal Sterilization Filtration Process

Terminal sterilization filtration devices are generally installed downstream of raw material mixing and blending processes, mainly to remove bacteria, eggs and other microorganisms in the liquid to ensure that the products meet the hygienic standards of food safety. The equipment of the terminal filtration device generally uses Sanitary Stainless Steel Filter Housing, and the filtration consumables usually choose PES Membrane Pleated Filters with 0.2 micron filtration rating.

4. Carbon Dioxide/Air Filtration Process

The carbon dioxide/air filter device is generally installed on the storage tank, mainly to remove pollutants such as droplets, particles and bacteria in the carbon dioxide/air to ensure that the products in the storage tank have always met the hygienic standards for food installation. The equipment of the carbon dioxide/air filtration device generally chooses Sanitary Stainless Steel Filter Housing, and the filter consumables generally choose Hydrophobic PTFE Membrane Pleated Filters with 0.2 micron filtration rating.

When designing a filtration system, appropriate filtration equipment, filtration consumables and other accessories should be selected according to the requirements of the usable area of the site, liquid flow and system working pressure. Generally, when selecting equipment based on liquid flow, the flow rate of the selected filter housing should be 1.5 to 2 times the project requirements.
